Saturday was a busy day. We started the day off by visiting the Barnes Foundation. It was established by Dr. Albert C. Barnes in 1922 to "promote the advancement of education and the appreciation of fine arts". Basically, this guy made a ton of money in pharmaceuticals and started collecting art. His favorite artist was Renoir and he has over 160 of his paintings. It is one of the world's largest collections of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Early Modern paintings. The collection includes all the greats like Monet, Manet, VanGogh, Matisse, Cezzane, Seraut, Picasso, Degas... and Dr. Barnes was friends with a lot of these painters.

In the afternoon, we went to a BBQ with friends. We had to leave a bit early because we got last minute tickets to RAIN: The Beatles Experience. It was at the Mann Center (outdoor venue) and the concert was a blast. RAIN covers the fab four from their very first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show through the psychedelic late 60's and their long-haired hippie days. They had 5 set changes, and in between each one they showed historical footage and hilarious commercials from the 60's. I didn't take my camera, so I got some pics from their website:

Wow! That was a busy day. What a beautiful place you went to at the Barnes Foundation. Does someone live in his old house, or can you tour it too? What a fun day!

We've been meaning to go to the Barnes Foundation for a while, but I got the impression that you have to get tickets WAY in advance. How far in advance did you get them? Sounds like a fun Saturday!
We got our tickets 2 or 3 weeks in advance.
